Business Development

Farmville has both shared in the economic prosperity of the county and developed its own prosperity through entrepreneurial spirit and ingenuity. The Farmville Economic Development Council (EDC), which was established in 1952, has been a leader in Pitt County as it aggressively works to create and maintain a business-friendly atmosphere. The EDC along with the Farmville Chamber of Commerce and the Farmville Downtown Partnership proactively work to recruit new business and industry, and then put a high priority on supporting those companies once they are established in the community. With its talented workforce and pro-business atmosphere, Farmville makes good economic sense for businesses and industries looking to relocate.

In 2009, the Farmville EDC established a new 501c3, Farmville Grows Economic Investment, Inc., incorporated under NC law, in order to further opportunities to serve the community, particularly underserved communities. Farmville Grows has been established for the charitable purpose of lessening government burden and reducing blight by assisting with opportunities for the underserved by effectively using vacant buildings and land to further opportunities for the unemployed and underemployed and increasing the ability of new business with access to resources.
