Hours: The normal working hours for town employees are Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 - 12:00 p.m.
Vacation Leave: Employees earn vacation as follows: (Completion of six months service is required before vacation leave will be granted.)

Sick Leave: Employees earn 8 hours sick leave per month. The town also offers a sick leave incentive pay for employees. Incentive pay will be based on the number of sick days used per year on the following schedule:
- 0 days taken = 2.0 days pay
- 1 day taken = 1.5 days pay
- 2 days taken = 1.0 days pay
- 3 days taken = 0.5 days pay
- 4 days taken = 0.0 days pay
Parental School Leave: Employees who are parents or guardian, may take up to four hours of paid leave (vacation or compensatory leave) annually to involve him or herself in school activities of his or her children providing certain conditions are met.
Holidays: Town paid holidays are New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving , Christmas Eve (if on a workday), Christmas Day, Day after Christmas and Employee's Birthday.
Christmas Bonus Plan: Full and part-time employees of the Town may be compensated for years of service by payment of a Christmas Bonus supplement based on continuous years of service as of December 31st of each year if funds are appropriated. Continuous service is continuous employment including any approved leave or involuntary reduction in force.

Medical Coverage: Medical coverage is available for all regular employees. Coverage becomes effective 30 days then the 1st of the month from the hire date. The types of coverage available are individual (for employees only), employee/child, employee/spouse, and family. Premiums are paid through payroll deduction with an option of pre-tax basis. Individual coverage is provided to employees at no cost. For other coverage the employee pays the additional difference.
Life Insurance: All regular employees are provided a basic life insurance-$10,000.00 Policy at no cost.
Optional Life Insurance: Employees are eligible to enroll in a guaranteed portable life insurance plan offered through the North Carolina League of Municipalities (underwriters: Farmers Life Insurance). This is an open enrollment, 90 days from hire date, or during our annual open enrollment period. Once an employee is enrolled, this insurance can continue with him/her if he/she leaves the Towns employment.
Credit Union: Local Government Federal Credit Union is available to all regular employees on payroll deduction basis.
Retirement: Employees are covered under the North Carolina Local Governmental Employee's Retirement System (NC-LGERS), after employee completes a 6-month satisfactory probationary status. The employee contributes 6% of their annual salary on a tax deferred basis. The Town of Farmville contributes 7% for general employees and 7.04% for Law Enforcement.
401K Supplemental Retirement Plan: The Town of Farmville offers a supplemental retirement plan after employee's satisfactory probationary status has ended. This program is voluntary and allows employees to set aside any amount of funds which is through payroll deduction and pre-taxed. The Town contributes 2.75% of an employee's salary. Sworn Police Officers will be enrolled immediately with the Town of Farmville contributing 5% of employees’ salary.
Employee Assistance Program: The Town of Farmville provides employees with confidential and professional counseling to help resolve problems that may affect their work and/or family life.
Worker's Compensation: All Town of Farmville employees are covered under the North Carolina Worker's Compensation Act. This act covers those employees who suffer injuries as a result of an accident while performing duties. The Worker's Compensation program will pay medical expenses and a portion of the employee's salary, after 7 days, if the individual is out of work as a result of a work related disability.
