Public Library
The Farmville Public Library is a Department of the Town. Established in 1930, the library has been in its current location since 1954. The facility was expanded and renovated in 1997.
Children’s Department
The Children’s Department is ready to provide story times for your family, group, or organization in the library’s children’s activity room. The Spring story time schedule, beginning on Tuesday, January 24, offers stories and crafts at 10:30 a.m. for preschoolers aged 2 to 5 years. Sessions will last 30 minutes. For school-aged students, from kindergarten through 4th grade, programs will begin on Tuesday, January 24 at 3:00 p.m. Participants will spend time reading, sharing a light snack, and crafting. This group will meet for 45 minutes.
Please call the library at (252) 753-3355 to register your child or group, or to plan a story time that will fit your schedule. Please note that story times will not meet during Pitt County public school breaks or in cases of severe weather.
Collection, Resources, and Services
Our growing collection of books currently totals over 37,000 titles, including: Large Print Collection, North Carolina Collection, Reference Collection, Adult Fiction and Non-Fiction Collections, Young Adult, Junior, Children's Collection, DVDs, VHS, and Books on CD. We also offer over one hundred different magazine and newspaper titles. If you are still unable to find what you are looking for, we have access to many more resources through the library's computers via NC LIVE, North Carolina’s online library. If you would like remote access to NC LIVE, please contact the library for instructions.
The Library also has excellent public computing and internet service, including our Gates Training Lab, a state-of-the-art computer lab open to the public.
Computing, Internet, Email and NC LIVE instructional classes are conducted regularly, free of charge! Please contact the library for meeting times.
Photocopying and lamination services are available at the library for a fee.
