Public Library
The Farmville Public Library is a Department of the Town. Established in 1930, the library has been in its current location since 1954. The facility was expanded and renovated in 1997.

Children’s Department
The Children’s Department offers a variety of activities for children, including weekly story times, special events, and annual Summer Reading programs.
Weekly story times for families, groups, and organizations in the library’s children’s activity room are currently held for 2 to 5 year olds each Tuesday at 10:30 am. In addition, the Children’s Librarian will present story times at day cares, schools, and similar organizations free of charge. If you would like to request a story time at your organization, please call the Library at (252) 753-3355, or email Connie Widney at cwidney@farmville-nc.com.
Please note that story times will not meet during Pitt County public school breaks or in cases of severe weather.
Collection, Resources, and Services
Our growing collection of print books currently totals over 37,000 titles, including a North Carolina Collection, Reference Collection, Adult Fiction and Non-Fiction, Large Print, Young Adult, Junior, Children's, DVDs, VHS, and Books on CD. Over seventy five different magazine and newspaper titles are also available.
We also offer access to many additional resources through NC LIVE, North Carolina’s online library. NC LIVE is accessible in the library or remotely. If you would like remote access to NC LIVE, choose “Farmville Public Library” as your institution when prompted and enter your library card number for your password.
The library also has excellent public computing, Internet service, and word processing software that are available for adults, young adults, and children. Basic computing, Internet, Email, and other popular instructional classes are conducted regularly, free of charge! Please contact the library for meeting times.
Photocopying, scanning, and lamination services are available at the library for a small fee.
